JOB SUMMARY:

Under the immediate supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, performs manipulative, nondiscretionary functions associated with the practice of pharmacy in a stand alone clinic setting. Enters prescription details in patient's medication profile, selects correct medication and strength, places in appropriate container, and applies label before referring to the Manager, Clinic Oncology Pharmacy for review. Checks and restocks supplies, packages and labels products, fills and delivers orders. Requires consistent, engaged team work with the Manager, Clinic Oncology Pharmacy. Extensive contact and interaction with interdisciplinary team members in the patient care areas. Frequent opportunities for providing exceptional customer service to patients, fellow employees, and the general public is expected. The Admixture Technician will work closely with other health care providers to ensure positive patient outcomes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Manages the drug inventory and orders drugs and supplies under the supervision of the Manager, Clinic Oncology Pharmacy. Responsible for mixing drugs after nurse has determined tx. Responsible for maintaining/updating inventory management, including monitoring for drugs expiring; this will include drugs in the pharmacy and crash cart. Dispenses drugs, including injections, after ensuring that each drug is entered on the Superbill first. Maintains daily temperature log from refrigerator/freezer. Receives incoming drug shipments and logs into inventory management system (Mobile Lynx). Assesses drug needs and anticipates needs for the following day; will communicate that to Practice Administrator or Lead Nurse. Ensures that all tx stickers are placed on the Superbill by the end of each day. Cleans hood at the end of each day. Cleans ambulatory infusion pumps and bags as necessary. Responsible for placing all expired drugs or drugs that require disposal in the appropriate bin, including the appropriate MSDS sheet. Schedules and drops off drugs that need disposed of to Kitsap Moderate Waste Facility as needed, usually 2-3 times each year. Maintains and updates the MSDS binder. Responds to and demonstrates competence in the use of the Chemotherapy Spill kits. Schedules chemotherapy treatments and follow-up appointments for patients currently under treatment. Oversees and corrects scheduler at least weekly. Assist with general housekeeping in work space, including cleaning of area, disposal of garbage and recycling. Other duties as necessary. Must have regular, reliable, predictable attendance in performance of essential job functions.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Completion of a Certified Pharmacy Technician Program

LICENSE / CERTIFICATION / REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart Association

Current Washington State Pharmacy Technician License

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

One-year experience in retail or hospital pharmacy preferred. Computer skills strongly preferred.
