Performs skilled maintenance, repair, installation, assembly, calibration, and testing of patient care related medical systems, components, and equipment. Provides operational and safety training of equipment to clinical staff as required. This position is will be assigned lead technician responsibilities

High School graduation plus successful completion of a military or civilian technical training program in biomedical equipment repair and maintenance.


As required by law for specialized assignments. Current Washington State Driver's License.


Continuing education and/or licensing requirements. Ongoing training on equipment and systems as required . Individual study of work related manuals and technical literature as required . Annual job specific and general safety training. Competency testing will be performed as required.


4 years of direct experience in the skilled maintenance and operations of systems and equipment at a healthcare facility or a facility with related technology. Lead technician or supervisory experience


Demonstrated skills in collaboration, teamwork and problem-solving to achieve goals. Demonstrated skills in verbal communication and listening. Demonstrated skills in providing excellent service to customers.


Exposure to Hazardous Chemicals or Substances and/or Infection: Occasionally exposed to hazardous chemicals, or infectious agents.

Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens: Occasionally exposed to blood borne pathogens.

Personal Protective Equipment Required: The following personal protective equipment shall be required dependent on the specific hazard:Gloves, goggles, face shields, overalls, respirators, safety shoes, hearing protection, hard hats, and any other protective device required by regulation or policy.


Works diligently on assigned work, completes it on schedule, and turns in completed documentation of work in the form of work orders, shift work records, and other designated paperwork. Work is consistently completed on time or ahead of schedule and worker is always observed actively engaged in completing assigned work. As observed by department management. Assembles, constructs, calibrates, installs, inspects, maintains, operates, and repairs assigned equipment and systems in a professional and quality manner. Technical performance consistently equals or exceeds factory technician or professional contractor performance. As observed by department management. Demonstrates knowledge of emergency procedures and plans necessary to work safely and effectively during a disaster, utilities failure, fire, or other emergency situation. During drills and actual emergencies employee is observed performing all tasks according to applicable plans and procedures without being reminded or shown. As observed by management during actual emergencies or training exercises. Works safely, follows all applicable safety standards, procedures, and regulations. Uses tools and machinery correctly and uses personal protective equipment when needed. Maintains a safe work environment by keeping work spaces clean and orderly. Always observed following safety regulations and policies by peers and management. Effectively and politely communicates pertinent aspects of maintenance work to the staff and patients of affected areas as well as planning and executing the work in the least disruptive manner. Two or more instances of positive feedback from other department staff and no valid complaints. As evidenced by observation by management and feedback from customers. Must have regular, reliable, predictable attendance in performance of essential job functions.

During an emergency, disaster, or catastrophic event, which places life or property in jeopardy, employee may be assigned to any disaster service activity that promotes the protection of public health and safety. Assignment might require serving at a location, at times and/or under conditions that significantly differ from employee's normal work assignments.
