Under the direction of the Complementary Therapies Coordinator, provides complementary therapy services, consultation, and education to patients, staff, and the community. Works in every way possible to improve the comfort and satisfaction of Harrison Medical Center internal and external customers. Supports, promotes, and enhances the healing environment and a mind-body-spirit approach to health and wellness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Effectively delivers complementary therapy services, consultation, and education within ones scope of practice.
Demonstrated desire and capacity to learn and implement additional complementary therapy modalities.
Works cooperatively with a variety of clinical and administrative staff to ensure continuity of care.
Effectively manages client/patient case load.
Listens and collaborates closely with treatment team and / or patient to achieve optimal outcomes.
Timely completion of departmental paperwork, clinical documentation, and related billing requirements.
Performs duties that support the goal of referral growth through provider and patient satisfaction, education and communication.
Consistently makes themselves available to other members of the team by initiating opportunities to assist and/or round during down times.
Remains current on best practices, industry standards, and innovation related to modalities utilized.
Supports and mentors department volunteers.
As a member of the complementary therapies team participates in events and trainings that increase awareness, provide education, and enhance support to the community and providers in the area of complementary therapies as related to healing environments and mind-body-spirit health and wellness.
Has experience, education, and/or has or is pursuing certification/registration/licensure in at least one core complementary therapy modality such as, but not limited to Therapeutic Music, Therapeutic Yoga, or Clinical Hypnotherapy; and/or has a bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, exercise physiology or other field related to complementary therapies; and is willing to acquire the necessary training/education/skills to provide additional complementary therapy modalities, education, and consultation.
A minimum of 1 year experience providing Complementary Therapy services in a clinical setting. Equivalent education, experience or internship maybe considered.
BLS certification required as well as credentials in one or more of the following: Therapeutic Music (certification from an accredited program required), Certified Counselor (WA State licensure required), Hypnotherapy (WA State registration required and certification required), Yoga (200 Hour, 500 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher or 300 Hour Certified Yoga Therapist preferred), or other related to Complementary Therapies as deemed appropriate by coordinator.
CONTINUING EDUCATION & COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Complete continuing education required to license/certification/registration.

Knowledge of best practices and interventions related to ones area of expertise for a wide variety of clinical presentations and related contraindications including, but not limited to, cardiopulmonary, orthopedic, obstetrics, oncology, med-surg, palliative care, sports injury, auto injury.
Ability to utilize complementary therapy skill set for relaxation and optimal mind-body wellness.
Knowledge of service delivery and operations in a medical and/ or wellness settings.
Excellent organization skills; Proficient in MS Windows computer environment; Professional written and verbal communication skills; Previous outpatient medical appointing experience; Proven ability to anticipate problems and troubleshoot; Collaborate in process re-design teams to assess and change faulty processes and optimize efficiencies.

Emergency, Disaster, or Catastrophic Events:
During an emergency, disaster, or catastrophic event, which places life or property in jeopardy, employee may be assigned to any disaster service activity that promotes the protection of public health and safety. Assignment might require serving at a location, at times and/or under conditions that significantly differ from employee's normal work assignments. As an employee of Harrison Medical Center, employee may be directed to perform a role other than their regular job, by a superior or by law.
Ability to read, write and speak the English language. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
PC experience in an MS Windows environment, 10-key and keyboarding skills (min 35 WPM).
