Nurse Residency Program

Nurse Residency Program

The rapid changes in the current healthcare market, combined with the complex needs of an aging population and advances in diagnosis and treatment of more critically ill and injured patients, have produced an unprecedented demand for a highly trained and specialized nursing workforce. At Harrison we have partnered with Versant® RN Residency program. Versant® has been regarded as the leading program in the nation for transitioning new graduate nurses into clinical practice.

This innovative program prepares new graduate nurses as they transition from the novice nurse to competent and confident nurses at the bedside at Harrison Medical Center. We are fortunate to partner with our Harrison Foundation Great Nurses for a Great Community Campaign, which provides the program with the resources to thrive.

Program features include:

  • Executive support
  • 18-22 week paid residency
  • Comprehensive, evidence-based curriculum, including interactive classes with real time, hands-on experiences.
  • Individualized preceptor-guided clinical experience
  • Self-care and mentor program

To date we have graduated over 60 nurse residents in a variety of specialities within the hospital system. Here is what one of them had to say about the residency program:

“[The residency program] is a great foundation. You get the support that you need which makes you feel that after the six months, that first day shift, you’ve been given all the resources you need to go on the floor and do the job. The preceptors you’ve had along the way are great resources.”
